Sustainability
The vision of Burudika Bungalows has always been built around sustainability and green practices. One of our favourite things about our property is our veggie patch. Our breakfast menu uses mostly locally sourced organic produce, or it is pulled straight from our garden.
In each room, we only provide metal cans and glass bottles to limit the use of plastic and we also provide a filtered water dispenser that is perfect for refilling your water bottle!
We use our plant-based scraps and lawn clippings to make compost that feeds our gardens all year round. Additionally, all of our villas are fitted with bioseptics that contain all of our black water and greywater. Once it has passed through the system, we use the treated water in our lush tropical gardens which also saves us from using thousands of litres of fresh underground water each year.
Chappy is one of the founding members of the Selong Belanak Community Association (SBCA) which is a member-supported organisation focused on environmental sustainability, waste management and community development in Selong Belanak, Lombok, Indonesia.
Through waste bins, volunteer clean-ups, student education, and village outreach, SBCA is committed to creating a cleaner, healthier community.
A true indication of all the efforts in and around Selong Belanak, is the new shop called Plastic Kembali which uses a lot of the plastic and rope collected to make recycled goods.
We truly believe that Selong Belanak is one of the most beautiful places in the world and we are stoked to be doing all we can to protect it.
